If You Have Your Wants, Add a Proven Track Record

Being Coachable for Your Whole Lifetime
If you were to ask me what I believe is the single most important success principle that has helped me throughout my career, my answer would be simply, "I am coachable."

Even if you're successful and winning the game, you still need to be coachable and listen to and learn from people with a proven track record. In Michael Jordan's book For the Love of the Game, he makes a comment regarding the idea that he was the greatest basketball player of all time: "I built my talents on the shoulders of someone else's talents ... I have used all the great players who came before me to improve my skills ... I listened, I was aware of my success, but I never stopped trying to get better." He was able to achieve truly unprecedented success by learning from those who had achieved success before him. If it worked for Michael Jordan, it can work for you.

To win, you gotta be coachable.

To be coachable, you gotta:
  • Listen so you can learn
  • Have the right coach
